My philosophy is understanding the whole individual ─ cognition, psyche/sense of self, heart, soul ─ and therefore, my approach explores all of these levels of experience. Although different challenges require different tools, I will explore impacts and solutions from a holistic lens with you.

Emotion-focused
-
Acceptance and commitment
-
Relational
-
Person-centered/positive
-

-
Anti-oppressive
-
Gottman method
-
Faith-based/transpersonal
-
Islamic integrated (for those identifying)

I have an Honours Bachelor of Science degree (double major in Psychology and English) from the University of Toronto and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Windsor. I am currently working toward my Master of Fine Arts.

I have additional training in Islamic integrated psychotherapy, internal family systems therapy, and narrative therapy. I am currently working toward certification in the Gottman approach to couples counselling.
Initial Consultation
If you have any questions or you’d like more information, I offer a complimentary 20-minute telephone/video consultation. Through this initial chat, we can determine whether we’ll be a good fit working together. If we do not match, I would be happy to refer you to a different therapist/services.
You can reach me via email at contact@sumaiyamatin.com to set up a 20 minute consultation.
